Our organic choice

A choice that starts with our growers.

In the 1990s PASAM Agrumi began its agricultural transition: sustainability and green farming were becoming increasingly important, and PASAM Agrumi was among the first companies to encourage and support its growers in obtaining organic certification for their farms. Organic farming is an agricultural production system defined and regulated at EU level by Regulation (EU) No 2018/848. It does not use synthetic chemicals (fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides or fungicides) to fertilize the soil or control weeds, pests and plant diseases; it also prohibits the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
We organize several organic farming courses for growers to teach the basic rules of organic agriculture and what it truly means to cultivate in an environmentally sustainable way. We know that choices have to be made, both in business and in life, and that you have to take a clear position. That is why, from the moment we chose to say NO to chemistry, we also said NO to waxes on citrus peel and to post-harvest treatments with thiabendazole and imazalil. This allows us to state that every PASAM Agrumi lemon has fully edible peel.
